Bloemendaal, Netherlands beach guide & holiday information
This quiet little town lying just outside of Haarlem, and about thirty kilometers from Amsterdam, dazzles the visitor with fields of brightly flowering flowers. With tulips being the main business, and an extremely profitable one at that, it is little wonder Bloemendaal is considered one of the wealthiest towns in the Netherlands.
Taking one's family to visit this gorgeous little place will be a pleasurable experience, and just maybe plant the seed for a great horticulturist still to come in one of the kids. Should the kids get the sighs on and start rolling their eyes in utter boredom, then there is always the beach. Here they can strut their stuff and oil their bodies and behave in such a way that it is the parents turn to sigh and roll eyes.
Oh well.. there are always the restaurants and nightlife in nearby Haarlem the adults can enjoy, while the children sleep peacefully, closely guarded by their babysitter. Certainly there is no shortage of tourist attractions with beaches to laze on, tours to join, and acres of parkland to picnic on or listen to whatever entertainment is current. There is as well an animal park and for the younger ankle-biters a children's playground. Adults can go have a fling at blackjack at the casino where your hard earned cash seems to disappear with remarkable ease, as opposed to the effort of earning it.
Then there are those boat trips that enthrall young and old alike. So for families with children, students backpacking their way through Europe, or snooty old snobs who refuse to hobnob with hoi polloi and keep seriously to themselves, until of-course the alluring temptresses flock in from far flung countries that come to tan and play in the sands. Population for the city of Bloemendaal is around 17,544
