The Patong area of Phuket is definitely the hub of a very lively entertainment scene. There are as many different bars as there are tastes, go-go bars, beer bars, and regular bars. Some bars offer more than just liquid refreshments and 'ladies of the night' are freely available to all who need a little something-something to pass the time away. Gays are welcomed in the Paradise Complex and in front of the Royal Paradise Hotel; there is a range of gay businesses. Restaurants offering Thai cuisine abound as do those who cater for international visitors, so no one needs go hungry in this little seventh heaven. Population for the city of Phuket is around 89,072
