Glitz, glamour, and girls, all are on show in LA. Here even the streets are famous, Sunset Strip and Rodeo Drive being just two. For fans of the brash and the brazen, Los Angeles has a lot to offer the tourist and his family, with Hollywood, Pasadena, and of-course, the world famous Lakers Basketball team. Beautiful people, beautiful beaches, sunshine and glamour, all are on show in this great Holiday destination.

Then of-course, there is (drum roll,).. Beverley Hills! Home to the rich and famous and site of magnificent mansions, here it is possible to see celebrities going about their everyday, perfectly normal lives, some of them affable and charming, others, not so much. For children travelling with their family there is Disneyland, theme parks and guided tours of Universal Studios. There is a quieter side to this young, bustling city. For those who care, there are fine art museums and many old buildings worth seeing. The Mission Revival Union Station is one such. It opened in May 1939 originally, but has seen some refurbishing since then. Another building not to be missed is the city's oldest, well it was, and it has been reconstructed, but it still represents the history of L.A. Built in 1618 the Avila Adobe was constructed with sun-baked adobe walls that are two and a half to three feet thick.

The Santa Monica Mountains beckon for those who shy away from the clamor that is the spirit of Los Angeles. For absolute peace, nothing beats a quiet camp side fire and the company of good friends.
