Strand is definitely "Paradise found" never to be lost. This idyllic beach town is one of the oldest holiday destinations in South Africa and dates back to a time when not all was idyllic and Apartheid was riding rampant, but now all is well and times they have achanged. Now the population is a crazy mishmash of all cultures, colours, and customs giving rise to the term "Rainbow Nation". Situated in the Western Cape and lying 10 Kilometres from the mother city, Cape Town, Strand offers accommodation for all travellers, family or single. No matter what your marital status though, Strand offers wonderful rest and relaxation with whale and dolphin watching high on the to-do list, especially in the later months of the year when these incredible creatures gather to meet and mate, and catch up with the latest gossip.

The town of Gordon's Bay is home to the South African Naval College and is situated on the False Bay Coast about forty kilometres from Cape Town. It lies below the sheltering Hottentots Mountains where the climate is mild throughout the year, although in the summer month's visitors and resident alike welcome the "Cape Doctor", the south-easterly wind that howls in and revitalises the town with its sanitising breath that cools the air and brings relief to all and sundry.
