Perissa, this tourist haven, which is really only populated during the summer months, which is not surprising as it was created solely to meet the needs of tourism, has a black sand beach that stretches into forever and attracts beach lovers like flies to honey. An immense rock soaring out the sea is called Mesa Vouno and demands respect as the most memorable of sights in Perissa, especially at night when the lights adorning the rock are lit. Perissa village is also home to 16th/17th century chapel of Agia Irena. A donkey ride on a path leading from Perissa across the mountain will take the holiday maker to the ruins of ancient Thera.
